Equipment Manager (Quartermaster)
At 5th Risca we have recently bought some really nice new tents. But being a Scout Group using our present hall since 1970, we have picked up quite a few bits and pieces over the years, some of which will be really useful, some things will need a bit of TLC, some things will just need to be recycled, and inevitably there will be things that have just got lost over the years that we had forgotten about.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working alone, with the time and energy to spend a few hours in our hall sorting through our equipment and building an inventory of our treasures! A head for heights would be useful as some of our storage cupboards require ladders to access them, and it would also be useful if you know your way around some tools so that you can have a go at minor repairs to some of our things.
On an ongoing basist, you will be the person in charge of our equipment, ensuring that we have the equipment that we need (clean and ready to go) for our adventures, telling us off when we break things or leave them in a dirty condition, but reporting to the Group Executive Committee when items need repairing or replacing.

Fundraising Team member
Our active fundraising team are constantly looking at new ways of raising funds for the group, which in turn helps to keep the cost of Scouting as low as possible for our young people. If you have a head for ideas, or are comfortable shaking a collection bucket every now and again, please get in touch!
Reports to: Chair, Fundraising Sub-Committee
Training: None, although Module 1 may be useful
Colony Assistant (Beaver Scouts)
Beavers are our youngest section, aged 6 and 7 years of age. They absolutely LOVE getting new badges, and so we need as many adults as possible to help them to get those badges. So if you are comfortable running a game with our little Blue Ninjas, or happy to help them in their lodges (small groups of Beavers), please get in touch so that we can have a discussion about how you might be able to help!
Reports to: GSL (although day-to-day work will be with the Beaver Scout Leader)
Training: Modules 1, 3, First Aid and GDPR
Section Leaders (New Sections)
5th Risca is quite a popular group, and whilst we have a smashing team of Section Leaders now, our waiting list continues to grow to the point where we could really do with spreading our wings a little and running a second set of Sections. So if you think you might be able to start up a new Beaver Colony, Cub Pack or Scout Troop at 5th Risca, please get in touch, as we would love to weigh up the options!
